Mercado de San Miguel
Hi everyone! : ) Long time no write! but still I always miss traveling and capture all wonderful time into photos. A quick update, I got my dream job as a visual design at the Milan branch of global design consultancy, frog. That’s also the reason why I travel less than when I was a student. Anyway, shall we talk about this post (Big smile :D).
On the 9th October I took a vacation for a week to see my friend in Madrid. It was great fun, drinking and partying crazily. Madrid has such a great night life. You will never get bored, especially if you are student there. However, one of the places that I really liked and reinforce to write about is “Mercado San Miguel” or San Miguel Market. Actually my friend already took me there once at 10 in the morning.I thought it was a pretty unexciting place, the kind that your grandma stops by at to buy fruit. This time we were there around 9pm and oh my god it totally changed my impression. The market was lively and full of people with cool traditional spanish shops all around. Bars were serving tapas for 1-2 euro, seafood stalls where piled high with fried squid, shrimp and fresh fish, and to top it all off you could get paella with a free glass of wine. However, the place that I liked the most was was a wine bar that served up some amazing sangrias. I highly recommend the house white Sangria there, you will love it! After a couple of glasses of white (and red) Sangria, try vermouth: a fortified wine, flavoured with various botanicals. A bargain at just 1.5 euro.
So many things to share but I would like to keep the text short, but now matter how many words I write it doesn’t compare with the real experience. After reading this post, please take a look at all the photos and you might get a feeling of why I love this place so much. Lastly, this will not be this fun without you guys, thanks to Sebastian and Roísín who were there with me and never got fed up with me always taking so many pictures : ) Have a good day guys, Ciao Ciao!
